First let me tell you how awesome One Life To Live and Young and the Restless are right now. They give us character driven storylines. The stories envelope so many characters on the shows that I want to watch more. On Y&R it’s Sharon’s Baby Daddy issues and how it affects not only Sharon but her ex/now husband Jack, Nick and his family and of course recently married Billy who is also Jack’s brother. Romance and Drama at it’s best. On One Life To Live Jessica learns the truth about Baby Chloe. She deals with all that Bess kept from her. Viki getting through to Jessica was just wonderful drama. Starr and Cole are elated their baby is alive and yet now have to decide if they are still going to let Marcie and Michael adopt Hope. But I digress.
Stuart’s Memorial was too camp for my taste. Tad getting up acting crazy was just awful. Frankly the way Tad’s been acting lately I could do without. Oh and let me take this moment to say how amazing was Tad’s recovery from BRAIN SURGERY!
Anyway, back to Stuart’s Memorial. Seeing Liza and Marian together and Scott and Marian was wonderful. Adam’s grief was also incredible. The memorial it’s self was less than great.
The inconsistency of the writing comes back into play after sweeps was over. It’s almost like Chuck Pratt has never written for Daytime before. Characters have just disappeared…they wrote Frankie’s injuries into the script and his going to Germany for rehab and that’s it. It’s ignored. Why even write about the injury. Frankie was off screen in Iraq. Randi could have been here dealing with loneliness or what not and leaning on a guy she shouldn’t as a married woman. Instead what did we get…NOTHING!
The Ryan, Kendall and Zach storyline is borderline annoying. Now Ryan is so noble pushing Kendall and Zach together. I get that they are trying to portray the fact that Kendall is in love with both men but instead it’s coming off as lame as when Erica left Jack for Jeff Martin.
Tad…what have they done to our poor lovely Tad? He’s a laughing imbecile. Why can’t he be saving the girl. I read that it was Chuck’s intention to pair Taylor and Tad. Why aren’t they doing this…it’s all there. She’s the girlfriend of an American hero. How could these two dare love each other in the face of hurting Brot. Instead Tad’s laughing all the time telling horrible jokes. He is nothing but a cartoon. Maybe there are some people who watch that feel this makes Tad more endearing. I am not one of them. Chuck has made him into a joke. Not unlike what they did to poor Opal by making her the messenger of Death in Pine Valley.
So far the only decent thing that Chuck’s done is fix Krystal. She went from a mindless junkie to back to normal. And what is with David?
It’s all just a lack of direction as far as I’m concerned. Sure Scott and Adam’s reaction to Stuart’s death was gut wrenching but then what? It’s all flat now. It’s two weeks for Sweeps gimmicks and then some lame attempt at a murder mystery and then what?
I’m left with a question. Is Chuck Pratt writing this from California and the B team is piecing it together because from where this fan sits AMC is still very disjointed.
Here Endth My Rant!
