I’m watching yesterday’s show on SoapNet and I can’t stop yelling at the television every time Ryan opens his mouth. If I didn’t hate him before (which I did) then I REALLY hate him now.
First off Ryan is the one who drove Annie off the deep end during his supposed memory loss. He sniffed around Kendall and Greenlee and was such the carefree soul that he embraced everyone but the woman he professed his love too. Proving Ryan has not loyalty to anyone. Just look at his Brothers and Sister.
It was RYAN’s idea to get married to begin with…it was Ryan who took over Annie’s life when she was running from Terry. Thankfully he had a serial killer brother who killed Terry for her. Annie’s character was normal (well for a soap) when she came to town. A mother who was trying to protect her daughter from a pedophile. Eventually when the writers brought back Greenlee it all went to pot. And after some time Annie started losing her mind. Then her crazy brother came to town and who was there to help her. Well Ryan the super hero was too busy wooing Kendall and then Greenlee to see his wife was in trouble. No Ryan always has been written to be a selfish pig!
Ryan and Liza discussing Annie’s seeing Emma made me laugh. He was all about protecting his daughter from the evil Annie. Ugh, I bellowed as I laughed at the TV. Ryan let his SERIAL KILLER brother babysit poor little Emma. Yep father of the year. Poor little Emma (until recently) spent more time with Corina the college student or Opal the Depressing Chicken Little than with her father.
Emma has nothing but wonderful memories of her Mother. Even during the kidnapping it was Di not Annie who Emma remembered. I get that Annie’s crazy but he could be there for a supervised visit with Annie and Emma. I’m sure Annie’s wishing she never gave Ryan parental rights. What really bugs me is he gave up on Annie without one moment of really trying to find what they had. No it was easier to tell her he didn’t think he ever loved her. All the while using Emma against her…not unlike her ex-husband Terry getting custody of Emma years ago. It’s about power and not about what’s best for the child.
Any way I hate Ryan. I know there are those who love him but every time he opens his mouth I want to switch the channel until he’s gone. It frustrates me to no end because I loved Ryan pre-2003’s return.
I’m not sure I’m embracing the Erica/Ryan pairing. She’s always in his business. For me she’s coming off as one of those scary Step Mom’s and not a future love interest. I’m not sure how they will spin this into a romance but they’ll have to do something for me to actually think this romance would be anything less than gross. And it has nothing to do with the Older Woman/Younger Man (Loved Erica/Charlie)…it has to do with the characters involved. I’m not feeling the love. It’s all cardboard cut out, lacking any depth and emotion.

p.s. I absolutely despise the label of Cougar. What’s the term for Older Man/Younger Woman? Exactly…however I’ll go with Male Menopause.
